I wrote a tumblr novel, read it five times and decided I didn’t want to share that many thoughts with nobody.
My Polaroid camera is in the mail..
So I’ve been thinking about what I’d like to photograph.
‘snap happy’ is not something you can be when it comes to Polaroids these days, considering the fact that the company went bankrupt and now film is hard to come by.
There’s something so different about this form of photography.. even film cameras in general have this air about them, you take the picture.. you develop the film.. you see the result. There’s none of this “I don’t like that one, delete it” oh and no tagging on Facebook. haha.
I got the Polaroid inspiration after meeting a traveling musician from NYC. He would take Polaroids of everyone he met and post them on his blog. After taking some awesome double exposure pictures at a train station before he left, I was sold.
I have enough film for 20 pictures. I obviously don’t want to waste the film, though I’m not worried about having to order more. Perhaps I’ll just carry it around with me like Oscar carried his key, I’ll shoot when the moment is right.
Train station photograph - He took the one of me alone, I loved it. But couldn’t scan unfortunately.
My manager 3 months ago: Tami we need your photo for your ID card. Me: OK!
Yesterday: Cards arrived. I’ve been working at the same place for like 9 months, so the idea of having a card now seemed rather redundant.. however, me being me (excited by most things involving cards, magic! woo) I was happy when I heard they arrived..
Today: NOPE, no. It doesn’t exist, it’s not a close up of my face with my eyes half open. Not that my manager took a photo an inch away from my face or anything and then refused to take another one while he said “Beautiful” and walked away laughing. Not at all. Mother fucker.
Anyway.
I just took a nap. Work makes me exhausted.
DEAR CUSTOMERS - Things cost money, don’t look at me like I’m a villain when I tell you how much your 8 tickets cost.
The cat tried sleeping on my back and wouldn’t get off when I rolled over completely (AWW She’s so cute and sweet and.. hairy on my black clothing.. AHH GET OFF) I’m wearing a long jacket and nothing else because I’m doing washing AND ITS FREEZING. Reading baby-cat makes me laugh. Cats on the brain.
Bowling tonight, skating tomorrow.
Here’s something that’s annoyed me… at some point in the 48 hours since it premiered on Sunday night, the reaction to Lena Dunham’s new show Girls has turned exceptionally nasty. Not “Hey, I didn’t like this show” nasty, but more like “I’m going to use Facebook and Tumblr and Twitter to tear…
All these points are worth reading.
I thought this show looked great, partly because I love Judd and he doesn’t do anything bad, ever. So I’m surprised. Will have to hold back judgement for when I actually see it though.
I can repeat it, but I can repeat it.
Hey, how are you?
Good?
“Good” Is not an answer I accept. Who’s ever just good?
Really? You’re good. I like to answer that question with something like..
Stoic, or Brazen, or phenomenal.. Never good. Good is not anything. Mediocre I accept, mainly because It sounds like you’re a medium sized tree.
Brazen is my fave.
I like to confuse people by answering this question with “Atypical” they never know what they just heard and just stare at you with this polite.. ‘moving on’ facial expression.
Oh.. so… uh, anyway.
Living in a smallish city has its perks, apparently telling someone you love film means that you’re the only person they know who has ever said they love film.
Fact: Saying you want to make films doesn’t mean you know how to make films.
Fact also: It doesn’t matter, ever. You can only not know how to make films until you don’t not know how to make films.
Remember that quote, won’t you.
So.. in turn, I’m now helping make shorts for a university fairtrade/environmental awareness group who want their quirky videos to play at the start of lectures to inform people (but not bore them) of the things they should be doing around campus.
I’m allowed to not care about cameras (I’ve never really been a fan of cameras, mainly because I’ve never had one good enough to care about, but also because I find them awkward and would much rather sit in a room for five hours discussing which direction they’ll point instead of actually pointing them) *pants* however I do drool over the new canon film cameras. Hey, I’m human.
Anyway, back to what I was originally talking about which is.. god knows. I’m excited. Even though I’m too busy half the time to actually help physically. Helping mentally is just as much fun as being there in person. Though you wouldn’t catch me ‘not’ on set when say.. Woody Allen was waltzing about.
So basically what I’m saying is today I had a macaroon for lunch, and some inspiration for dinner.
Haha, forget you read that. No seriously.
The End.
PS (So not the end) I want to be Derren Brown when I grow up.
And the history of our conversations revealed - haha.
Can you take a compliment? I haven’t seen you in anything else so.. I believe you were believable in those pictures.
